Optimizing Available Computing Power to Run a Web-based Virtual World

Category:

Project Completion Date:
December, 2008
Industry:
High Tech / Media
Business Challenge:
Client wanted to develop a custom Web-based virtual world application for a major toy company. The final configuration of the servers to support the application had to be properly configured to take advantage of the available computing power within the Oracle 10g database platform.
MATRIX Solution:

MATRIX responded quickly with a team of Java architects and a Sr. Oracle DBA who began the analysis and recommendation of application and database optimization enhancements. Once the application was stabilized, a performance load test plan was created and executed to ensure the application will process the targeted volume of online transactions with minimal issues.

Results / Benefits:

Previous application could only handle up to 3,500 concurrent users, which is far below the targeted 20,000 users required. The MATRIX team helped to achieve more than 50,000 concurrent users via structured testing of their unique Web services capabilities.
