Agile Scrum Consulting for International Hotel Company
Hospitality client was introducing the Agile Scrum methodology to it's development team environment, and needed a firm to provide coaching / mentoring to the development team for a highly visible project. The Client faced many roadblocks, organizationally, to successfully make the transition from a traditional waterfall development shop to a more nimble, Agile Scrum development environment. MATRIX provided an Agile Coach, with extensive experience in Scrum project development to facilitate and educate client Scrum teams through the day-to-day application of the Scrum framework. The MATRIX coach lead: User Story gathering, Release Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective meetings. Additionally the MATRIX coach taught team members the ins-and-outs of agile estimation, helping the team determine the product size through Story Point estimation and schedule derivation. MATRIX also ensured that during engagement, the Agile Coach was shadowed by a fully dedicated employee who would assume the responsibilities upon his departure, thus enabling IHG to use the “Seed and Grow” model for transitioning Scrum throughout the enterprise. The initial sixteen (16) week engagement was extended twice, based on the position contributions and accomplishments of the client Agile teams.
Development team produced several releases, involving the users throughout the agile development process. The prioritized releases were implemented on-time and within budget. Currently client has expanded their Scrum knowledge to other teams in the enterprise and has stated that Scrum will be the go forward development strategy for their Global Technology organization. Client has since engaged MATRIX for several MATRIX Agile teams to work side-by-side their agile teams and are promoting the Agile process throughout different IT groups.
